Novel Reading of Rogue Marauder, by Cherie’ Waggie

Performed by Carina Cojeen

Get to know the writer:

1. What is your novel about?

Things didn’t always go as planned for Denovan Freighter Pilot, Sneighd Arkon. Keeping his freighter flying wasn’t always easy. Keeping himself flying was even harder. When offered a lucrative paying job for an illegal fuel run by Sinnetian Syndicate boss Baquar Starka, Sneighd accepted, even though he knew it wasn’t a good idea. Double-crossed by the supplier, Sneighd returns to Baquar empty handed, not knowing that was Baquar’s plan all along, a set-up for a nice little murder of a Galaxy Corporation Official with Sneighd tidily placed to take the blame. But things don’t always go as planned, even for Baquar Starka. Sneighd receives help in escaping Baquar’s henchmen with the help from two unwitting and unwilling rescuers, Tendrite Portmaster Korbot Maka, and Rhadurian pilot, Haunalyn. Sneighd’s freighter permanently disabled he and his new companions escape Sinnet aboard the Rogue Marauder, Haunalyn’s small Rhadurian Hauler, with Baquar Starka and the Galaxy Corporation Police in pursuit. With the help of Haunalyn and Korbot, Sneighd must find the proof that he isn’t the murderer before he ends up as space dust.

2. What genres would you say this story is in?

Science Fiction, Science Fantasy

3. How would you describe this story in two words?

Action Adventure

4. What movie have you seen the most in your life?

Jurassic Park Trilogy, The Mummy Trilogy, Star Wars (the original trilogy), Indiana Jones trilogy, and a lot of old movies (if you mean number of times seen). I like action movies, especially if there is some comic relief in the movie.

5. What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)

Unchained Melody (the Righteous Brothers rendition)

6. Do you have an all-time favorite novel?

The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks

7. What motivated you to write this story?

Brainstorming with a friend is how the premise was created; the characters started growing, so their story needed to be written.

8. If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?

That is a hard question to answer. Alive, I’d say Jackie Chan. Dead, my brothers. I miss them.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Being creative through art, dance, music, and designing gowns, esp. for weddings, caring for Animals

10. What influenced you to enter your story to get performed?

My mother is visual impaired. I’d like my books to be on audio so that other visual impaired people can enjoy them. And audio books are great for people who travel or don’t have time to stop to read a book, or can’t read. This is a way for them to enjoy books.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Never give up. Writing can be frustrating: it’s hard work and takes a lot of time and concentration. There are days the words flow and days they just don’t come. The main thing is to just keep writing and never give up.

Novel Transcript of the CULL: Bloodline, by Eric J. Gates

Buy on AMAZON

Performed by Laura Kyswaty

Get to know the writer:

1. What is your novel about?

‘the CULL – Bloodline’ is the first book of a five-book series (all available) which presents a completely original take on vampire lore. No fangs or morphing into bats here; just adrenaline-pumping fury as two female Federal agents face the unimaginable!

2. What genres would you say this story is in?

Paranormal Thriller

3. How would you describe this story in two words?

Fast-paced page-turner.

4. What movie have you seen the most in your life?

‘Young Frankenstein’ – it never gets old.

5. What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the
most times in your life?)

Eric Clapton’s ‘Rolling Thunder’

6. Do you have an all-time favorite novel?

Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories

7. What motivated you to write this story?

A long story. I jokingly remarked to my cousin, a few years back, that my next novel should be a vampire tale a everyone else was doing this. I was immediately asked if her young daughter could be in it. Hoisted by my own petard, at least I thought I’d make it fresh and original. Subsequent research showed that almost everything we think we know about vampires is wrong – even to the extent that ‘Dracula’ was based on Vlad Tepes, the Transilvanian prince. ‘the CULL’ series is firmly planted in the technological 21st Century but captures the horror of the original vampire novels.

8. If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would
that be?

The late British author, John Gardner, a master of thrillers.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Cinema, technology.

10. What influenced you to enter your story to get performed?

I’m always interested in exploring new avenues to showcase my work.

11. Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

The key is Patience and Perserverance. Then more Patience and Perserverance. Good old hard work.

Novel Transcript Reading of AN UNCOMMON FAMILY, by Christa Polkinhorn

http://www.christa-polkinhorn.com

A chance meeting between a middle-aged woman, a widower, and a semi-orphaned child in the city of Zurich, Switzerland, brings together three people who grapple with a past of loss and betrayal. Six-year-old Karla, whose mother died in a car crash, has a hard time accepting the loss. Anna, her aunt and guardian, struggles with her former husband’s deception and her shattered confidence in men, and Jonas, artist and teacher, mourns the death of his wife.

While trying to help Karla, a talented but troubled child, Anna and Jonas develop feelings for each other that go beyond friendship. The budding romance, however, hits a snag when Anna discovers a sinister secret in Jonas’s past. While the two adults have come to an impasse, young Karla takes matters into her own hands. Together with a friend, she develops a plan to bring the two uncooperative adults back together. The plan, however, creates havoc and as it begins to unravel, Karla is forced to learn some difficult lessons.
