Get to know the writer:

What is your novel about?

It is the first book in a trilogy that spans from second to fifth century Ireland and Scotland. It describes what happened when the very first missionaries showed up in Ireland (from Gaul), written from the point of view of the Druids. The main characters are female Druids who are herbalists and healers. There are also warriors, battles and ancient Celtic spirituality and poetry as well as a glossary of Old Irish terms.

What genres would you say this story is in?

This is a spiritual work as well as a work of historical fantasy. People who are interested in Celtic history and spirituality will find it interesting.

How would you describe this story in two words?
Celtic spirituality.

What movie have you seen the most in your life?

I have watched the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter movies several times.

What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)

I don’t have one. I like Beethoven and traditional Celtic music played on accoustic instruments.

Do you have an all-time favorite novel?

A book that I have read many times over my life is “Saki” by H.H. Munro.

What motivated you to write this story?

I have been a Druid for over thirty years. After several trips to Scotland and Ireland the characters began to speak to me and I basically wrote down what they did and what they showed me. Some say the books are “chanelled”. What I can say is the first book (Priestess of the Forest) came out in February of 2008 and I was writing it for nine years before that. In the book I describe a funeral using the herb Artemisia. In April of 2008 archeologists announced the discovery of the first confirmed Druid grave. When they opened the grave they found a container that had last held the herb Artemisia. That was a nice little confirmation for me.

If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would
that be?

I’d love to meet a second century Irish Druid and ask her about her beliefs.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I live in an oak forest and I have to be out in nature every day, rain, snow or sunshine. I care about the fate of the land and the animals, the health of the waters and the purity of the air.

What influenced you to enter your story to get performed?

My hope is to reach a wider audience. Many Americans are fascinated with the Earth Religion of Native Americans. They don’t realize that our own ancient European religions were very similar. If our indigenous European Nature Spirituality could be better known, perhaps people would take better care of the planet.

Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

You can’t “want” to be a writer. You can only “write”. If you are really going to do it a lot has to be sacrificed. It is a craft that takes immense time and solitude. Be prepared to put in years of your life for very little monetary reward (usually). That said, for those who are born to the craft, it is one of the most satisfying ways to live.

Pretty Women

What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)

‘Blowin’ in the wind

Do you have an all-time favorite novel?

The Odyssey

What motivated you to write this story?

Share this true story with people. I want readers to take away from my writing , that we humans do we do part of the same Pack; that Christian, Muslim, Jew, Baptist, Buddhist, etc … are adjectives of the most important thing: “The Person”. That the only law that is given us to know is that of “Natural Order of Things”. That religion is a purely personal, and that it is good that God remain in the background and that no one has the presumption to elect himself His representative on earth .That for more than 2000 years we have been slaves of the worst kind: mental slaves of the so-called prophets or spiritual leaders. As we know, the Olympus collapsed …. it is very likely that in this century will inevitably fall even the Holy See, Mecca and the Wailing Wall.

If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?

Socrates

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Flight , I am a fire fighting Pilot ;
Scuba diving

What influenced you to enter your story to get performed?

In many cases, the adoption of a child inevitably has many problems due to the trauma of abandonment. I wanted to share my experience with both the couples who are planning to adopt a child and be with people, seeking the root causes, which often have to do with nature, religion, politics, etc. .. etc. ..
I was forced visit many of the darkest places of human nature, and I have learned to appreciate and enjoy many things that are often taken for granted, only because the benevolent fate bestowed them upon us.

Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Be yourself, think with your mind

What genres would you say this novel is in?

The genre would be Drama.

I have many different songs that I love, depending on my mood I may be in the mood to hear Prince’s “Starfish and coffee”, or I may be in the mood for Lalah Hathaway’s “I’m coming back”, or Erykah Badu’s “Green Eyes”. ITs all about what day it is and which Kim we are dealing with.

Do you have an all-time favorite novel?

The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

What motivated you to write this story?

HBO used to have a show that focused on prostitution throughout the U.S. and one episode focused on a woman who became a pimp. I wanted to develop that story. However, as I started to write my story it evolved into something else while still discussing the lives of women on the streets.

If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would that be?

My brother, he passed away at the age of 21 from a seizure, I just want to make sure he was ok and make sure he knows I love him.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

I am passionate about my family, providing a wonderful life for my daughter is my first priority.

What influenced you to enter your story to get performed?

I wanted to see my work go from the page to something visually stimulating. We are visual people, so instead of explaining what my book is about, you can see what the possibilities are for this story.

Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Stay focused, I have been distracted for many years, this story should have been completed years ago. For a time, I forgot this was a goal for me. Even now, I go through periods where I am blocked and I get overwhelmed with other responsibilities and my writing takes a back seat. However, we must come back to our love. I have so many stories that need to be told, but they will never see the light of day, UNLESS I WRITE!

Chapter 1 Novel Reading of DEADLY SERIOUS by A J Thibault

Performed by actor Hugh Ritchie

BUY the Novel Online

Get to know the writer:

What is your novel about?

Deadly Serious is a dark comedy thriller set in Los Angeles about a stand-up comic whose search for the truth leads to his downfall. When Jonny Goodis exceeds the limits of free speech, he draws fire from his audience, his enemies and his peers. Hunted and tormented, he must deliver the performance of his life if he ever hopes to survive.

Why should this novel be read by people?

It is a look inside the mind of a tormented aspiring comic who has trouble differentiating between going over-the-top and discovering that the terror inside of him, although comedic, can be very very real. I wanted to play with the complex interplay between action and psychological thriller, much as happens in a Thomas Pynchon novel.

How would you describe this story in two words?

Comedy thriller

What movie have you seen the most in your life?

Casablanca

How long have you been working on this story?

It was about 1.5 years for the first draft.

Do you have an all-time favorite novel?

I liked Robert Ludlum a lot and the Bourne Identity.

What motivated you to write this story?

I lived in Los Angeles at the time and attended many different and famous comedy clubs. I saw many comedians who had a very dark side to them and a few would explore it through politics and personal attack and this prompted me to think about what would happen if they were misunderstood and went over-the-top. The death of John Belushi and others prompted me to think about why comedians are so self-destructive.

What artist would you love to have dinner with?

Henri Rousseau.

Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Family, kids, politics and future exponential technologies.

What influenced you to enter your short story to get performed?

I am excited to have the opportunity top get the word out and I’ve never entered a festival before.

Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

Writing is like thinking. If you believe in your thoughts, keep on writing.
