Get to know writer Brian O’Flaherty:
Matthew Toffolo: What is your 1pg Short Story about?
Brian O’Flaherty: It is about a burglar, recounting how he avoided jail time.
MT: What genres would you say this short story is in?
BOF: Comedy. Crime.
MT: How would you describe this story in two words?
BOF: What? Doggonit!
MT: What movie have you seen the most in your life?
BOF: Star Wars, Return of the Jedi.
MT: How long have you been working on this story?
BOF: About two days.
MT: Do you have an all-time favorite novel?
BOF: Hard to pick a favorite, so I’ll give a shout out to, “Star Wars, Tales of the Bounty Hunters.” Not really a novel, but a brilliant piece of work that will never receive the recognition it is due.
MT: What motivated you to write this story?
BOF: I thought it would be fun. It was a little more challenging than I anticipated, because too many things were rhyming on me, so I decided to make the whole thing rhyme. It also helps create a rhythm, because a 400 word limit, provides very little time to create a rhythm in the story.
MT: What artist would you love to have dinner with?
BOF: Shakira.
MT: Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
BOF: Shakira and Star Wars.
MT: What influenced you to enter the 1pg. Short Story contest?
BOF: I got an email, alerting me about the contest. I also love the critique that Wildsound Fest offers.
