a_timeless heartbeat_333 x 500Interview with Cherry Seniel:

Matthew Toffolo: What is the general theme and tone of your novel?

Cherry Seniel: It is a book that tells about a love of a lifetime determined to seek fulfillment of a promise once spoken in the past. One must sacrifice a life, but only to secure the rebirth of a fated love. Death is only the beginning, in the name of love—entering the flesh again to reunite two lovers in the present.

MT: Why should people buy your novel?

CS: The story in the novel is not the typical love affair that we can bump into our lives every day. As the genre mandates, paranormal romance is something beyond ordinary that will go against all odds to secure a happy ending. People who will read this novel will take a glimpse of a lover’s promise that was made in the very early years, yet weren’t given the chance for a closure. They will find amusement in connecting the dots of the past to be able to understand a significant scene in the present. Mixed emotions will be summoned when least expected.

MT: How would you describe your novels in just two words?

CS: Mysterious. Poignant.

MT: What movie have you seen the most in your life?

CS: The Craft. A 1996 American Film, starred by Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, Fairuza Balk & Rachel True. I loved that movie.

MT: Was being a novel writer something you’ve always dreamed of doing?

CS: Yes, I always have it in me. But I kept it a secret even to my family until two years ago when I can’t seem to hide it anymore. My passion in writing was too massive that I submitted myself to its calling. It is doing the thing that I loved the most. It is me.

MT: Do you have an all-time favorite novel? Have you read a novel more than once?

CS: The novel about Merlin and Excalibur published in the 90’s. This is the book that ignited my interest in novels. It was during my high school days when I found the book in our school library. I remembered, I borrowed it many times and read it over and over again. After that, I told myself, “One day, I will write my own novel.”

MT: What motivates you to write?

CS: Everything that I do in my life, I dedicate it to my family and to the people whom I love. True, it is my passion to write, but also, it’s my wish to give happiness to others. And I hope, through my novel, I can be able to inspire people and spread love, hope and happiness. It is such a humbling feeling to touch one’s life through my writing.

MT: What artist would you love to have dinner with?

CS: An author or a writer who had been in the profession for quite some time already. I would love to hear their experiences and thoughts about writing. I could get their advice and learn from their words. It will be a productive and fun dinner since we share the same interest and passion. There would be too plenty to talk about.

MT: Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

CS: I am a Computer Engineer and during the day, Information Technology is my thing. So anything about it also interests me like Software, Internet and Technologies. When I can find some spare time, I spend it surfing the internet and read anything I can find there—articles, news, documentaries and a lot more.

MT: Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?

CS: I always told myself that when you want to achieve something, you should put your heart into it and complement it with hard work and dedication as best as you can. When I have decided to follow my dream and produce my first book, I planned on how I am going to achieve it. I devoted a year, learning about Creative Writing and how to write novels. So I enrolled myself online and grabbed the opportunities of getting free tutorials and courses before I started writing my first book. Our technology nowadays made it too easy for us to learn anything that we could imagine. All we have to do is to be resourceful and dedicate a time for it. Although I can feel that my passion in writing flows in my blood, I know I have many things to learn about it and I am still learning. It is an everyday process that a writer or an author should take considerably when writing. And if we write from the heart, words become flawless. It will just pour out on its own. One thing that I am very grateful about is there are so many authors and writers out there who are too eager to help and guide a newbie author like myself. To sum it all, my advice is to plan accordingly, to organize and follow your schedules timely, be confident in your talent and above all, learn to connect to people who have the same interest as you are. No man is an island and it is because of my wide reading and my following their tips that made it possible for me to self-published my debut novel ‘A Timeless Heartbeat’.
