Interview with Lance Morcan:
Matthew Toffolo: What is the general theme and tone of your novels?
Lance Morcan: The theme and tone of our novels varies as we write both in the thriller genre and historical genre. I say “our” novels because I write in collaboration with my son James. They all have action and adventure in common regardless of genre, and the tone is reflective of that.
MT: Why should people buy your novels?
LM: People should buy our novels first and foremost because we need to eat (we are full time writers of novels, non-fiction books and feature film screenplays) and secondly because they’ll enjoy them – as the reviews for our books suggest.
MT: How would you describe your novels in just two words?
LM: Fast-paced.
MT: What movie have you seen the most in your life?
LM: Dances with Wolves
MT: Was being a novel writer something you’ve always dreamed of doing?
LM: Yes.
MT: Do you have an all-time favorite novel? Have you read a novel more than once?
LM: ‘The Snow Falcon’ by Stuart Harrison is my all-time favorite novel. I haven’t read a novel more than once, but if I did that would be the one.
MT: What motivates you to write?
LM: I am primarily motivated by the need to transfer a story from my head to paper.
MT: What artist would you love to have dinner with?
LM: Author Nelson de Mille.
MT: Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
LM: My wife, son and daughter, movies, sport and reading.
MT: Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
LM: Write, write, write. All else is incidental.
