Read Poem: Tree Born, by Bailey Silver

Wandering the Evergreen Mists

Cradled in the
Womb of the Earth
Connected to the
Dense molten core
Through suckling roots
Nourished by the fertile
Generous land
Gifting the world
Arboreal life
Treeborne emerging
I was carved
Limb and trunk
Growth continues
Light reaching my
Heartwood
Green and tender
Like a sapling
I am
Malleable
Vulnerable
In the wind
One wild spark
Ignites
Shrubby vegetation
Growing up
Around my legs and feet
Blasted away
Instantaneously
While my bark may harden
Leaves singed away
I will still be standing
Watching ash
Carry
Blown hither on the breeze
