Read Poem: Dance With My Husband Again, by Leigh Ann Raab

In the kitchen, under disco ball’s soft glow,
We’d salsa ’til the fridge light flickered slow.

Your hand, calloused, spun me round and round,
Laughter echoing, a joyful, silly sound.

Now, the music’s muffled, a quieter beat,
Your wavering steps, a cadence incomplete.

Tears sting my eyes, hidden in my hair,
Missing the dance, a joy beyond compare.

We stand now, partners, hand in trembling hand,
Love’s ember glows, defiant in the sand.

I miss the spin, the way you held me tight,
But hold onto these moments with all my might.

‘Cause even when the tunes have all gone flat,
And silence fills where once our bodies met,

My heart will dance with yours, a silent plea,
Forever twirling, just you and me.
